When I need to use it, i stick it onto the mac as simple as it is due to the magnets and when I am packing, I just simply slide it down to take it out and pack it in the case together.Apple Site:"Do not use palm rest or keycap covers on a MacBook Pro with Retina displayLeaving any material on the top case (keyboard and palm rest area) could result in damage to the display when you close it.
When this screen is attached my laptop doesn't close securely, but I read other reviews and expected that to happen. The glossy side definitely seems to offer the best/most privacy. The magnetic attachment is really convenient because I don't always want the screen on and don't want the sticky attachment things always on my screen. The screen inside its carrying case fits nicely in my laptop sleeve as well, so it's really not altogether that inconvenient that it doesn't allow my computer to close all the way when it's on anyway!
I pretty much only use this when traveling or out of the office so it works perfect for me.
I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) so you can't close the laptop with the screen on BUT they provide you with a case to keep the screen in which was great because I can just put this in my computer case.
I can flip it around and use the matte side and it still sits tight against the screen, but I don't like the look of that finish as I do the smooth side.
My biggest complaint with this screen is that, as other viewers have noted, you cannot close the screen with the protector in place.
The biggest problem I have with this filter is that it is very thick.Laptop doesn't close completely with the filter on.It is becoming a problem to remove the filter anytime I need to close & keep the laptop in the bag during travel/commute.
I currently use their privacy screens on my other devices and they work great, but this one just doesn't work.
The bottom of the privacy screen is not laying flush with the laptop screen so half way down the screen to the bottom of the screen is blurry.
After adding it to my screen I did see some privacy benefits, but feel more like it just dims the screen then actually provides side view privacy.
