I bought this for a substitute for hamburger in dishes but its taste is not quite to my taste buds' liking; it has more fat in it than I like, but it will be an emergency substitute for when it is really needed.
They say I have to be positive and I thought I was, but I am also an honest person and I guess if you can eat canned meats this is okay.
Easy to keep in the pantry, and if you get a taco craving, this and one of the kits (personally like the El Paso stand and stuff), you have tacos aplenty!I haven't tried it any other way, because honestly, it makes tacos so well that with a bit of lettuce, some tomatoes from the garden and sour cream + the kit with seasoning, shells and sauce, it's a quick easy crowd-pleasing dinner!
It's great to have on hand for quick meals (beefed up spaghetti sauce for example) or casseroles and not have to worry about the expiration date on a tray of ground meat.
I used it in a sauce and it still tasted strange.
In this case, it smells like dog food, tastes like dog food, ( And yes, before my dog eats anything...).
It tastes like canned chicken.
Taste is very bad, I had to add taco seasoning after me and one of my daughters took our first bite of our burrito's we made.
And after seeing that, I cannot eat this with a clear conscience.
