I bought this for a substitute for hamburger in dishes but its taste is not quite to my taste buds' liking; it has more fat in it than I like, but it will be an emergency substitute for when it is really needed.
It's great to have on hand for quick meals (beefed up spaghetti sauce for example) or casseroles and not have to worry about the expiration date on a tray of ground meat.
Also, I like that this product only has 2 ingredients: beef and salt... We used this to make Tacos In A Bag dinner one night on a recent camping trip and it turned out awesome!
I hate to fry stuff (all that icky grease vapor), so this product has been my go-to for recipes calling for ground beef. From my experience using this, it's great for making Sloppy Joes and Taco filling, but not so good in spaghetti IMO.
If you don't want you spaghetti or tacos to taste like dog food, don't use this product!
In this case, it smells like dog food, tastes like dog food, ( And yes, before my dog eats anything...).
It tastes like canned chicken.
Was going to try this with hamburger helper so was browning it (yes I know it is cooked, so really just reheating) it in an electric skillet and had to dump it all.
It doesn't taste very good and there's a lot of fat mixed in with the can.
