Costume designer Alison Freer’s styling kit is a magical bag of tricks, built to solve every single wardrobe malfunction on earth. TV and film productions wait for nothing, so her solutions have to work fast. In How to Get Dressed, Alison distills her secrets into a fun, comprehensive style guide focused on rethinking your wardrobe like a fashion expert and making what’s in your closet work for you. She provides real-world advice about everything style-related, including:

   • Making every garment you own fit better
   • Mastering closet organization
   • The undergarments you actually need
   • The scoop on tailors and which alterations are worth it
   • Shopping thrift and vintage like a rockstar

Instead of repeating boring style “rules,” Alison breaks the rules and gets real about everything from bras to how to deal with inevitable fashion disasters. Including helpful information such as how to skip ironing and the dry cleaners, remove every stain under the sun, and help clueless men get their sartorial acts together, How to Get Dressed has hundreds of insider tips from Alison’s arsenal of tools and expertise.

What are fans saying?
It would have been interesting and useful to read that from a professional standpoint.
This is a nice introductory book for those who, like me, are totally clueless about clothes--what to buy, how to wear them, and how to store them.
(note: you do NOT need luxury goods to look good as she attests, and addresses virtually everything in your wardrobe). This book gives CLEAR direction as to how to look put together (whatever that means to you) without the ridiculous rules like "a french woman would never" that I've read in other books.
By brainstorming the true elements of my personality I have a clearer idea of what to look for when shopping (elegance with a surprising twist of rebelliousness :)) Gotta shock audiences once in a while. If you have spent a lot of time and money on purchasing items but are generally unhappy with your wardrobe, read this book!
I was hesitant to purchase this book because I have a zillion books on style, most of which I regret to say have not been of great use to me.
What are haters saying?
This book was marketed something to help us get dressed with "insider secrets" from a stylist.
There is nothing in here that isn't available for free on the web.
This book was a waste of money.
Don't really give useful information.
Do not buy!
