I used this in a high-low headlight conversion on a Chevy C1500 that I wanted to do for years. This one was nice, had the leads already sealed into the socket, the hanger for mounting and it worked perfectly for my small project.
I wanted to use a relay to connect the power to lights and use the rocker switch to turn them on.
The price was great and the item just what I needed.
I wish they made the ground wire a 12 gauge as well but really it's not necessary of course, just more convenient if it was.
It has a nice rubber seal in the relay body as well as the wire terminals.
The epoxy is brittle and it breaks off at extreme temperatures, resulting in a failed seal.
But the reason it’s only 2 stars was because 1 out of the 5 relays was DOA the coil tested fine but would not close contacts as they seemed to be stuck internally or something it just wouldn’t click over.
Not so big more like nit picking but still every time I’ve ever purchased a standard automotive relay like this one just not water resistant kind the hardness usually comes with 9" to 14” of wire which is usually the perfect amount to splice in the relay and then tuck it away somewhere these relays only came with a 4” leads so I had to stretch the wires which just resulted an additional 5 connections imo it’s just a bit of a pain and an additional failure points.
I installed 5 of these because the 5 horns I have cannot be operated off of the current circuit, so it had to be dedicated to the battery.
Whenever I would honk the horn, one of them started to stick open and stay on even after the horn was let up and the others stop.
