What are fans saying?
A good harddrive, however maybe I am just noticing now after 2.5 years of use, but startup times are starting to get a little slow, as this is my boot drive.
I have much older drives that are still kicking around with no issues (I seriously have a 4.3GB Western Digital drive I bought in 1997 that is still working fine in a Linux firewall/router box).
I bought six of these drives in 2014 to build two systems running RAID 5 on the motherboard.
I have had my drive for roughly four years and its worked just fine all that time.
If you're looking for a large amount of storage on the cheap, this drive is an excellent choice.
What are haters saying?
This Hard drive failed on me...
I would not purchase this drive again -- whether it's the technology used, the brand, who knows, but it's the quickest failing drive I've ever had besides one or two that came Dead On Arrival.
This was going to be a 2-star review, but when I came back to this page, I noticed the 2-year warranty.
The replacement drive failed after a year and they said it was no longer under warranty.
The DOM right on the drive says 05/2014, which matches up with the amount of hours on the drive.Fortunately, amazon agreed to a full refund even though the refund window was closed, but I shouldn't have to.Beware, this drive is NOT new, and may already be at the end of its life cycle.
